Synopsis
Hi there, nice of you to stop by! My name is Tom and I'm a freelance 2D and 3D Motion Design Generalist. Although I operate as a sole trader, I work under the name of Delta Shift as I may become a limited company at some point in the future.
I've been in the business for over a decade, working with some of London's top agencies; such as Sky, NBC Universal, Nexus, Disney, Pixel Artworks, Hogarth, Ogilvy and many more. I enjoy way too many aspects of what I do to become a specialist in one particular area, but I find this works to my advantage as I'll likely know something in most areas of motion design. Whether it's a cheeky bit of 3D modelling or a dynamic approach to a 2D explainer, I've got you covered.
So drop me a big ol' "Hello!" in the contacts section of this website and see how I can help you.

The Long Version (if you can be bothered)
Oh, hi again! Grab yourself a nice hot beverage and throw on some soft jazz, then give this a little read. This is where you'll get a more detailed overview on the programs I use, my policy on working remotely and my rates. Important parts are highlighted in green for ease of getting to the point. The rest is either padding to make it seem like I have a lot to say, or purely for my own amusement.
P.S. I was kidding about the soft jazz. No one needs that kind of improv lethargic hell.
Program Knowledge:
As a 2D and 3D Motion Design Generalist, I use several programs, which include After Effects and Cinema 4D. I primarily use Redshift as my render engine, but I have some light experience with Octane. I'm in the process of learning Substance Painter and Designer, but I'm hoping to use this more in my workflow over time. I also use the usual suspects of Photoshop and Illustrator. I also dabble in a variety of different Trapcode tools inside After Effects which is sometimes handy when you need to display 2D generated particles.
Policy on Remote Working:
Short answer is, yes, I'm happy to commute a couple of days per week if necessary, but working remotely is more beneficial for everyone which I will explain below.
Like so many people in my field, I've been working and living in London up until recently. Despite earning an excellent wage, house prices in London are skyrocketing to unrealistic proportions, pushing people further and further away. My fiancé and I made the difficult, but necessary, choice to move out of London to a place called Salisbury.
Salisbury is located in the south of England and is situated between London and Bristol making it fairly easy to get to both. It's an hour and twenty minutes to Waterloo station in London by train or an hour and fifteen to Bristol. This means I can attend important meetings or be in office at a maximum of two days per week, depending on exact location. If you need someone to be in office full time, I'm afraid I'm not the freelancer for you. But there are benefits to working remotely which I will now describe in my abrupt, top five reasons, unsolicited list. You can skip to the next section, but I wouldn't because I'm watching you read this:

1. Not being in office means I'm using my own resources, such as power and water, which saves you money and means I didn't use the last teabag or eat that doughnut you've been eye banging all day, but were too polite to eat right away.
2. Not commuting is good for the environment. It's not a myth, my aunts house was nearly flooded last year. Do you hate my aunt or something?
3. Not commuting means I stay mentally fresh. I actually work harder from home because I've not had a commute added to my day which makes me more productive. It also means I don't spend the first ten minutes ranting at Susan about the person whole stole my seat on the way in, so it's a win/win, when you think about it.
4. Using my own equipment at home means I can work faster! Yessiree, you read that right, folks! By using my own machine, you can skip the awkward freelance first day setup. I know my own PC and everything is nicely set up so I can zip around at ease. When working with my own machine and incorporating the way you like to work, I can jump straight to the meat and potatoes of a project much quicker and more efficiently. It also means I don't have to sit next to Susan. She's a bloody gossip and doesn't shut up which makes it hard to get work done.
5. Working remotely means I get to spend more time with my baby son and be with the Mrs. I want to be here to have more time to watch my son grow up and spend time with my family. Commuting, as you know, can often add several hours to a day. Get the violin ready: When I was young, my Dad commuted all the time. He was gone when I woke up and he would come home when I was asleep. I didn't get to spend much time with him and I don't want the same for my son. It doesn't mean I have less time to work for you; commuting only means I have less time with my family. So, unless it's genuinely important I'm physically with you, please have a heart.
Day Rate
This really will depend on the project, how long I'll be working with you, the complexity of a project, if it's inside or outside IR35 etc. I'm always happy to negotiate based on the project at hand, so please feel free to get in touch, tell me your ideas and I can quote you based off this.
If you're still awake, thanks for reading.
